Mommy, are you mad at me?
Medium
Relief ink on fabric
Date
April 2025
As I have gotten older I have started to think more and more of my childhood and my relationship with my mother. More specifically, how being queer has impacted our relationship. I created this work to show the complexity of it. How love, misunderstanding, and identity intertwine. The relationship shared between a mother and her daughter is assumed to be tender, shaped by love and unspoken understanding, but it has its complications. This is my way of verbalizing those thoughts and emotions. I love my mom very much and she loves me, but like a lot of mother-daughter relationships, it's complicated.
